It lies in the passivation process and corrosion resistance . Yellow zinc plating is treated with color passivation to form a yellow appearance and has stronger corrosion resistance. White zinc plating usually adopts white passivation or no passivation process, which has relatively weak corrosion resistance but a simpler appearance.
The difference in the process principle is :
Yellow zinc :
On the basis of galvanizing, color passivation treatment (such as yellow passivation) is carried out. The passivation solution formula contains chromate or other film-forming agents to form a color oxide film. The passivation film has self-repairing ability. After being scratched, local repair can be achieved through hexavalent chromium in the passivation film.
White zinc plating :
Two processes may be adopted: White passivation-Use a passivation solution free of color-developing components to form a silver-white passivation film. No passivation process-Only the galvanized layer is directly exposed without any sealing treatment.
Performance Comparison
Corrosion resistance :
The neutral salt spray test of yellow zinc plating can last for more than 120 hours, while that of white zinc passivation is usually less than 72 hours, and even lower without passivation.
The ranking of coating protection capabilities: military green passivation > black passivation > color passivation (yellow zinc) > blue-white passivation > white passivation.
Hardness and wear resistance :
The hardness of the coatings of the two is similar, but the yellow zinc passivation film has stronger adhesion and slightly better wear resistance.
Application scenarios
Yellow zinc :
It is suitable for highly corrosive environments, such as chemical equipment and fasteners in Marine climates.
It is often used as a special bolt for electrical equipment, meeting the dual requirements of rust prevention and electrical conductivity.
White zinc plating :
It is mostly used in decorative scenarios, such as building hardware, daily products and other fields with high requirements for color consistency.
Non-passivated white zinc is not recommended for use in damp or corrosive environments.

Material Handling Systems: Conveyor frames, trolleys, and robust load-bearing components.
Packaging:
1Q: Why choose Yellow Zinc over regular zinc plating?
1A: Better corrosion resistance & distinctive gold look.
2Q: How accurate are the custom sizes?
2A: Precision fabrication, typically within ±1.6mm (±1/16").
3Q: How long does production take?
3A: Usually 2-4 weeks after design approval.
4Q: Is it suitable for outdoor or tough conditions?
4A: Yes. Strong welded steel + Yellow Zinc coating = excellent durability.
5Q: Is the Yellow Zinc finish just for protection?
5A: Primarily corrosion resistance, but also looks good and aids assembly.
